No I don’t think it is an alternative that quickly, there are some limitation notability with the OnPush strategy in which you would still have to trigger the change detection “manually” (see the related branch in the demo repo).

Also it was an experiment and some questions would need to be cleared.

That being said, yes it does work. Depending of the scope and goal of the app, maybe with further investigation it would be an option.
